Spooky Starlets

A monstergirl card battler with visual novel elements and a unique twist on gameplay

We Loved

  • Unique Art Style
  • Good connection between card game and visual novel
  • Cozy "found family" vibe
  • Gallery provides good way to track progress

Not So Much

  • Inconsistent Art
  • Card game loop becomes very "one note"
  • Zero choices in visual novel
  • Animation timing out of sync with text

This week, we’re talking about a game that had really interesting potential and didn’t quite live up to its own hype. We discuss what we liked, what we didn’t and what we wished this game had brought to the table.

Our Summary

Spooky Starlets

This game is an interesting approach to an ero-game, tasking you with creating porn movies as a producer and tending to the talent, a group of actresses who all have their own story arcs. The potential for this game, though, made us want a lot more from the card game mechanic which is very one-note and repetitive. It's worth a weekend afternoon, but it has a lot of untapped potential.
